Alan Breidahl is an extensively trained Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. He has been well trained in both general and paediatric plastic surgery. His experience includes Hand and Reconstructive Microsurgery - including breast reconstruction - through a Hand and Microsurgery fellowship at St. Vincent's Hospital; Paediatric and Craniofacial surgery through a Craniofacial Fellowship at Change Gung Memorial Hospital in Taipei; Aesthetic Surgery in London, New York, Dallas and Los Angeles; and expertise in the management of skin cancer through the Skin Unit of Peter McCallum Cancer Institute
Dr. Breidahl is extensively published with over 20 papers in international journals, two chapters in surgical text books, and has frequently presented at international meetings. As well as FRACS (Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons), he holds the extra qualifications of a post-graduate Diploma in Anatomy and Master of Surgery and Master of Medicine degrees from the University of Melbourne.
His achievements have been recognized with a Churchill Fellowship, a RACS Travelling Fellowship, and the RACS John Loewenthal Fellowship. He is a member of the Australian Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the Australian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the Australian Hand Surgery Society. He is a founding member and President of the Australian & New Zealand Society of Craniomaxillo Facial Surgeons.
Dr. Breidahl is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Surgery at the University of Melbourne and consultant Plastic Surgeon at the Royal Melbourne Hospital from 1996 until the present, and a consultant Plastic Surgeon at the Royal Children's Hospital from 1996-2007. His rooms are based in Brighton and he has operating rights at Linacre Hospital in Hampton, Cabrini Brighton Hospital and Epworth where he was a member of the Medical Advisory Board 1997-2007.
Dr. Breidahl has extensive operating experience, performing over 18,000 Plastic Surgery Operations over the last 15 years.
For cosmetic surgery, Mr. Breidahl likes to see his patients at least twice before operating to allow plenty of time to discuss the operation, expectations and possible complications. This will ensure that you are fully informed & comfortable prior to surgery.
Our Staff
Dr Breidahl employs full time Division 1 nursing staff, one of who is always available by telephone if there are any medical concerns you may have. His practice manager, Bree and her assistants Sonia and Fiona are happy to help you with any enquiries or quotes on surgery. They all have many years experience in specialist rooms.
